The Hyspec Mining Services Group of companies (Hyspec) and Fluiconnecto by Manuli, a division of Manuli Rubber Industries (MRI), announced on December 1st, 2012, that they had formed a strategic alliance. Fluiconnecto by Manuli has acquired a 51% equity stake in the Company.
The strategic partnership comes on the back of a 16 year, single source supply relationship, with Manuli product sales accounting for more than 80% of Hyspec’s turn-over.
With over fifty wholly owned mine-site based workshops in eight African countries, Hyspec is now looking beyond the African continent, with direct access to Fluiconnecto’s manufacturing and distribution hubs in Europe, Asia and Australia. Mutually beneficial for both parties, the partnership will see Fluiconnecto by Manuli increase its global reach from 12 to 22 countries, more than 1000 employees and 200+ service points. Hyspec’s credentials in Africa and site-based service delivery model are complementary to Manuli Fluiconnecto’s growth strategy. Manuli’s commitment to continuous research and development is another advantage for Hyspec who will now have a greater influence in the road map for development of new hydraulic technologies through Manuli’s International Centres of Innovation.
As a member of the Fluiconnecto network, Hyspec now brings it customers closer to the manufacturer than any other hydraulics supplier, with the ability to move the goods faster, ensure supply continuity and deliver truly global logistics solutions – Hyspec’s aim being to assist its customers in improving productivity.
In addition, the relationship will provide Hyspec’s customers with direct access to Manuli’s highly skilled technicians and engineers, who are linked through global innovation centres focused on the continuous development of new technologies and integrated mine site solutions.
“It is with great pleasure that we announced our alliance with Fluiconnecto by Manuli” says Alan Wood, Managing Director of Hyspec Mining Services. “The financial backing and brand association with Manuli, provides a major competitive advantage as we seek to enter new markets and ensure continuity of supply. Hyspec’s unique “managed workshop” approach, whereby hydraulic facilities are assembled at the client’s site together with a 24/7 team of qualified technicians, is key to the Company’s success in reducing the chance of operational failures and associated downtime. As such, the ability to mobilise Fluiconnecto support teams in geographies outside of Hyspec’s existing network will only strengthen the service delivery model.
In being truly global, we are providing a new capability for mining operations, enabling clients to operate with unprecedented up time and benefit from the huge associated financial return.”
“The Manuli Group of Companies is continually expanding its operations throughout the world with the aim of strengthening its position as the leading manufacturer of steel reinforced hoses and metal fittings”, adds Mr. Manuli, Chairman of the Manuli Group. “I believe our partnership with Hyspec has future proofed our service delivery model, bringing together the best products, people and global distribution networks.”
Hyspec will continue to operate under its own name and existing management team, under the governance of an integrated Board.
